Tatreez cushion cover, navy geometric border
By Rania Barakat · Ramallah, West Bank, Palestine
Every piece on Amussu is a one-off. If you want this, you take it now.
Either way, you are buying from Raniadirectly. The fee model and the relationship are the same — the only thing that changes is whether the piece already exists.
A cushion cover with a geometric border in navy thread on natural linen. The pattern is a simplified version of the border used on wedding thobs in the Ramallah region. Fits a 45 × 45 cm insert.
Three weeks. Stitched on linen, backed with natural cotton. Invisible zip closure.
The person who made this.
I do tatreez — Palestinian cross-stitch. My mother taught me using thread and linen she kept from before I was born. Every village has its own patterns. Mine are from Beit Nuba, the village my grandmother left in 1948. The patterns are how we remember a place we cannot visit. I work on commission pieces and I work on thobs — the traditional dress. I will not make tatreez that is not rooted in a real pattern from a real place. If you want something decorative but invented, I am not the right person. If you want something that means something, send me a message.
